Acknowledging the Patrons

The Kickstarter campaign for This Mick’s Life was successfully funded. This article is a public dedication of gratitude to my patrons.

The word, “patron”, has become confused over time and across languages. In English you may understand it to be a “customer”. But see the patronage article on Wikipedia:

Patronage is the support, encouragement, privilege, or financial aid that an organization or individual bestows to another. In the history of art, arts patronage refers to the support that kings, popes and the wealthy have provided to artists such as musicians, painters, and sculptors.

The donors to This Mick’s Life are patrons in that sense. From my point of view, they are more a boss than a customer. In fact, patrón in Spanish means “boss” or “chief”. It sometimes has connotations of generosity, like a “benefactor”. But in Spanish, a patron is never a customer. Always the boss.

These are the patrons to This Mick’s Life:

If you donated but don’t see your name on the list, it’s because you didn’t reply to my email asking for your link. It’s not too late. Email colin at expat-chronicles dot com.

Did you miss the end of the Kickstarter campaign and still want to donate? Send your donation to my PayPal account: post dot colin at gmail. If you prefer to pay through other a different medium, email me. All the original rewards are still valid.
